9 Machinery Shed & Workshop Builds To Inspire Yours
First up is an impressive machinery shed build in Warracknabeal VIC.
1. 24-Metre Span Open Front Machinery Shed
Size: 85m x 24m x 8m with 6-metre canopy.
Build Date: 2021
Location: Warracknabeal
There are a number of features and details that contribute to making this not only an impressive build but a smart, functional design.

Firstly, the size consists of a standard 24-metre span which is a cost-effective option and provides adequate length for a semi. This span combined with the 6-metre canopy provides 30-metre-wide coverage if required.
The bay spacings of 8.5 metres are both cost-effective and practical. They provide extra room for moving large pieces of machinery.
A height of 8 metres takes into account the cantilevered canopy and ensures that there is adequate clearance. The height combined with the open-front configuration and details like the bay widths make this shed well suited to hay storage too. So it is a versatile investment!
In the gallery of photos below you will also see the 40m x 18m x 7m farm workshop shed which was built alongside this project.

The size of the workshop is one detail that makes this build impressive, however, it is also a carefully planned design.
The design incorporates several functional design features that can also be a good fit for smaller-scale workshops and maintenance sheds.
Some of these details include the configuration which provides a workshop area and a versatile storage area, the sheltered access and the concrete slab and concrete apron.
This project also includes a gantry crane which is ideal for a workshop of this size.

3. Open Gable End Machinery Shed With Skillions
If you are looking for a shed that provides easily accessible shelter for both long and wide machinery, this design delivers.
Size: 45m x 24m x 7.5m with 15 metre skillions
Build Date: 2022
Location: Bellata NSW
Open gable ends and double bay openings on the long side provide easy access to the shed from both sides – for both long and wide machinery.
An open gable end or drive-through configuration is the most cost-effective way to achieve a wide opening. It is also a cost-effective option for storing long machinery.
4. 18 Metre Span Farm Machinery Shed
A slightly smaller scale shed in comparison to some of the other projects on this list, this shed effectively uses the classic fully enclosed configuration – with a few added features!
Size: 40m x 18m x 6.75m
Build Date: 2022
Location: Blackheath VIC
Two notable features of this project are the sliding door outrigger and the skylights. The outrigger system is used to provide a wide opening with the sliding doors pushed out of the way. The skylights mean the available natural light can be taken full advantage of.

Remember, before embarking on a multi-use shed project it is always a good idea to check that your insurance policy will cover things like co-storing.
Size: 96m x 21m x 6.75m with 6 metre canopy
Location: Wareek VIC
Build Date: 2021
7. 30 Metre Span Machinery Shed
This open-front machinery shed design ticks all the boxes!
Size: 56m x 30m x 6.75m with 6 metre canopy
Build Date: 2022
Location: Rich Avon West VIC
Key features of this build include:
- A cantilevered canopy to provide additional weather protection (and storage area if required)
- A girder truss has been used to create a 16-metre-wide double-bay opening
- Sliding doors on the back wall of the shed make it easier to access machinery. This helps avoid having equipment stuck at the back of the shed and needing to move large machinery to access it.
8. 21 Metre Span Machinery Shed & Farm Workshop
This machinery shed and farm workshop shed project uses one of the most popular configurations available – an open-front configuration with enclosed bays.
Size: 56m x 21m x 6m
Build Date: 2022
Location: Keith SA
An open-front storage shed with one or more bays enclosed is a great way to incorporate a workshop area and create a versatile shed design.
This project takes it a step further with extra wide bay widths. The 56-metre length is made up of a 12-metre enclosed bay and four open 11-metre bays.
Another highlight of this project is the well-prepared site and access points. Watch the video below to learn about preparing the ideal shed site.
