In 2014, we partnered with Langdon Grain Logistics to develop a solution to their need for increased on-site grain storage. The result was a large high-quality grain shed with potential multi-use functionality – meeting Langdon Grain’s requirements now, and into the future.

About Langdon Grain Logistics
Based in Lismore, Victoria, Langdon Grain Logistics is a major stockfeed manufacturer and distributor. The company has provided quality feed to livestock and dairy farmers throughout western Victoria and the Gippsland region since 1989.
Langdon Grain Logistics offers a number of grain-related solutions, including providing crushed and whole grain throughout the region, providing warehousing for major grain companies, and providing transport operation facilities.
The challenge
Given its growth in each of its core offerings, Langdon Grain Logistics had increased requirements for on-site grain storage – with the requirements that the solution had to be easy to access, handy for out-loading, and versatile.
The solution
With the company’s existing on-site storage facilities comprising a mixture of silos and bulk storage sheds, it was agreed that an additional large shed would prove the best solution.
The process
With the harvest season quickly approaching, time was a key factor. Action Steel engaged the services of its longstanding subcontract erector Wardlaw Welding Services to fast-track the construction process.
The result was a timely completion – with Langdon Grain Logistics able to fulfil its contracted requirements when harvest time hit.
The results
The completed shed measures 30 x 60 x 6 metres, ensuring ample space for grain storage during harvest season, and allowing for storage of other items during the off-season.
An overhead loading system ensures ease of loading, while the spacious interior has a capacity for 6,000 tonnes of wheat.
The Action team is pleased to have been able to partner with such a forward-thinking company as Langdon Grain Logistics and is delighted to have been able to drive the completion of another successful project.
